Summary: When the ovarian tissues necessary for the planet's survival die of old age, Ethan must go off-planet as the first Athosian in generations, to get some new. This unfortunately necessitates personal contact with the dreaded women. Something goes wrong when Ethan buys the tissues, but (un?)fortunately Elli decides to help him in his quest.
The culture shock is the main idea of the novel, and very well executed. But there's not much else to it.
